Chapter Handbook

Mission Statement

The AABPS Student Chapter aims to support Bangladeshi students in pharmaceutical sciences by fostering professional growth, providing networking opportunities, and enhancing knowledge in the field. Through educational initiatives, career development, and community engagement, the chapter supports students’ journeys toward becoming leaders in pharmaceutical science.

Chapter Objectives

Provide educational and career-related resources specific to the pharmaceutical sciences.

Offer mentorship, networking opportunities, and professional development activities.

Participate in activities such as seminars, conferences, and webinars to bridge academic and industry knowledge.

Support members in their transition to professional roles in the pharmaceutical field.

Structure of AABPS Student Chapter

The student chapter will have the following positions:

  • Chair: Oversees all chapter activities, leads meetings, and represents the chapter at AABPS events.
  • Co-Chair: Assists the Chair and steps in during the Chair's absence.
  • General Secretary: Manages records, takes minutes, and handles correspondence and documentation.
  • Student members: A maximum of 3 student members who will participate in executing the overall mission of the student chapter.

Faculty/Professional Advisor

Student chapter must have a Faculty Advisor/Faculty Advisors who is/are members of AABPS. The advisor provides guidance, supports chapter initiatives, and liaises with AABPS for official matters.

Membership

All students in pharmaceutical sciences, including undergraduate, graduate (MS, PhD, PharmD), and postdoctoral fellows, are eligible for membership. All members must join AABPS to participate actively in chapter activities.

Reporting Requirements

The Chair or Co-Chair must report to the AABPS Executive Committee or the Head of Education every two months during the AABPS EC monthly meetings. This report should include updates on chapter activities, member engagement, financial summaries, and plans for the upcoming period.

Starting a New Chapter

To establish a new chapter, students must:

  • Gather Members: At least six AABPS student members are required to form a chapter, including a Chair, Co-Chair, and General Secretary.
  • Submit an Annual Report detailing chapter activities and membership growth
  • Provide updates on planned events and outreach activities.
  • Report to the AABPS Executive Committee or the Head of Education every two months during the AABPS EC monthly meetings

Chapter Activities and Engagement

The chapter is encouraged to participate in:

  • Professional Development activities: Skills sessions on resume building, interview preparation, and career guidance.
  • Educational Seminars and Webinars: Featuring professionals from industry or academia to discuss advancements in pharmaceutical sciences. The student chapter may work closely with the webinar subcommittee of AABPS.
  • Networking Events: Connecting members with professionals, alumni, and peers for mentoring and career guidance.
  • Research and Poster Presentations: Opportunities for students to showcase their research and receive feedback.

Code of Conduct and Ethics

All members are expected to adhere to the AABPS values of integrity, respect, and professionalism. Any violations of these principles may result in disciplinary actions or removal from chapter activities, as deemed appropriate by AABPS.

Use of AABPS Branding and Intellectual Property

  • Chapters are authorized to use the AABPS name and logo for official chapter activities with prior approval from AABPS.
  • Any promotional materials, event announcements, or publications must be reviewed by AABPS to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
