AABPS Election Commission Holds Planning Meeting for 2026 Executive Committee Election

The American Association of Bangladeshi Pharmaceutical Scientists (AABPS) Election Commission convened its first planning meeting on June 26, 2026, to establish the framework and timeline for conducting the upcoming Executive Committee election.

The meeting was attended by Lasker S. Lasker, Delwar Hossain, Shaid Alam, Imran Ahmed, and Jamil Habib, who discussed key organizational and procedural matters to ensure a transparent, fair, and efficient election process.

One of the major developments discussed was the recent approval by the AABPS General Body of amendments to the organization’s bylaws. Under the updated bylaws, future amendments may be conducted through email voting, eliminating the need to establish a separate bylaws committee for such revisions.

The Election Commission confirmed that it will oversee and administer all aspects of the 2026 election process. The newly elected Executive Committee will consist of nine members, including four newly established portfolios designed to strengthen the organization’s leadership structure. The Commission may also appoint advisors as needed; however, advisors will serve in a non-voting capacity.

The Commission announced that the official election process will begin on July 1, 2026. Prior to the launch, the Election Commission will receive a formal memorandum from the outgoing AABPS Executive Committee to facilitate a smooth transition.

To support the election process, Abir, Office Assistant (Whatsapp: 01953402707, Email: hmsr.abir@gmail.com) will provide the updated membership database along with the necessary technical resources. Imran Ahmed will prepare the official election schedule, which will be reviewed by Lasker S. Lasker before being distributed to the membership.

The Commission also finalized the nomination process. AABPS members will be invited to submit nominations for eligible candidates. While patrons and non-members are welcome to nominate candidates, voting privileges will remain exclusively with eligible AABPS members in accordance with the organization’s election policies.

To ensure consistency and transparency, all official election-related announcements and correspondence will be communicated through the official AABPS email address: info@aabps.org.

Following the completion of the election, the Election Commissioner will officially announce the results. The newly elected Executive Committee will assume office immediately upon the announcement and will serve a two-year term beginning on the date of inauguration.

The Election Commission remains committed to conducting a fair, transparent, and inclusive election process and looks forward to the active participation of the AABPS community in this important milestone for the organization.
